Skinbooster Injections

from £ 450

Skinbooster injections are non-surgical treatments designed to improve skin hydration and overall skin quality.

They work by delivering active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, or combinations of hyaluronic acid and amino acids, directly into the skin. This helps support hydration, improve skin texture, and stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Skinbooster treatments are commonly used to address:

  • dry or dehydrated skin
  • fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • thinning or crepey skin
  • reduced skin elasticity

Skin Hydration Consultation

Patients considering skin hydration or skin booster injections will first attend a consultation with Dr Michael O’Gorman.

This ensures that treatment is appropriate and aligned with the patient’s skin condition and expectations.

During the consultation, Dr O’Gorman will assess:

Skin quality and hydration levels

Areas of concern, such as fine lines or dark circles

Medical history and lifestyle factors

Suitability for injectable skin treatments

A personalized treatment plan is then developed, which may include Sunekos, Profhilo, or other skin rejuvenation approaches.

Traditional Hyaluronic Acid Skinboosters

Traditional skinboosters use non-crosslinked, free-flowing hyaluronic acid to improve skin hydration and surface skin quality.

The treatment is delivered through superficial injections into the skin, helping to restore hydration, support collagen production, and improve overall skin texture.

These treatments are commonly used to address:

Dry or dehydrated skin

Fine lines

Sun-damaged skin

Early signs of ageing

Peri-oral lines (barcode lines)

They can be used across a range of areas, including the face, neck, decolletage, hands, and other areas where skin quality has declined.

Profhilo Skin Remodeling Treatment

Profhilo is a unique injectable treatment that leads to a softer, firmer, and more contoured skin. It contains the highest amount of hyaluronic acid in any product on the market.

Profhilo treatment hydrates, stimulates new collagen and elastin formation, and improves the health of the fat layer underneath the skin. It achieves this through it’s ability to flow in a 3D multi-directional way in both horizontal and vertical planes. It’s flowability is likened to liquid honey. Studies are showing benefits even at a muscle and bone level.

The name profhilo injections represent it’s composition of high molecular weight and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid complexes designed by two Italian professors. These differing molecular complexes take effect at different receptors in the skin that lead to enhanced health throughout the layers and give a softer, firmer, and more contoured outcome.

Aged skin

Photo damaged skin

Fine lines

Crepey skin

Sagging skin

Scarred skin

Rosacea

As with any profhilo injectable treatment, bruising is possible but not common. Infection is exceedingly rare and all treatments are carried out with antiseptic techniques. It is recommended to have spacing of at least 2 weeks after any other injectable treatment.

young looking skin

Profhilo Haenkenium cream is recommended for post treatment care and it can indeed be used on an ongoing basis. It has antioxidant properties and also contains both high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid. This ensures the treatment is taking effect from both the inside and the outside.

Sunekos Treatment

Sunekos is an injectable treatment used to improve skin quality by supporting hydration and the production of collagen and elastin.

It combines amino acids with hyaluronic acid to help restore the natural structure of the skin. Rather than adding volume, the treatment works to improve skin texture and elasticity over time.

Sunekos is often used in patients with:

Fine lines and early signs of ageing

Skin laxity

Dehydrated or tired-looking skin

Under eye dark circles

It is particularly suitable for more delicate areas, where a subtle and natural improvement is preferred.

Sunekos Under Eye Treatment

The under-eye area is one of the most common areas treated with Sunekos.

Skin in this area is thinner and often shows early signs of ageing, including dark circles, fine lines, and changes in texture.

Sunekos may help improve skin quality in this area, leading to a fresher and more rested appearance. As with all treatments, suitability is assessed during consultation with Dr Michael O’Gorman.

Sunekos vs Profhilo

Sunekos and Profhilo are both used to improve skin quality, but they work in slightly different ways.

  • Sunekos focuses on supporting skin regeneration using a combination of amino acids and hyaluronic acid.
  • Profhilo is based on a high concentration of hyaluronic acid and is primarily used to improve hydration and skin remodeling.

The choice between treatments depends on the individual’s skin concerns and is discussed during consultation.

What to Expect from Treatment

Skin hydration  injections can be used in several areas, including:

Face

Under-eye area

Neck

Décolletage

Hands

Treatment choice depends on the area being treated and the specific skin concern. Treatment is performed in the clinic and typically takes 30 – 60 mins..

A series of sessions may be recommended depending on the treatment type and individual response. Results develop gradually as the skin’s hydration and collagen production improve.

These treatments are designed to produce subtle, natural-looking improvements rather than immediate volumisation.

Are These Treatments Suitable for Everyone?

Skin hydration injections may not be suitable for all patients.

Suitability is assessed during consultation with Dr Michael O’Gorman, taking into account individual medical history and skin condition.

These treatments may not be appropriate for:

  • individuals with certain medical conditions
  • pregnant patients
  • those with active skin infections

A personalized assessment helps ensure that treatment is both safe and appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do skin boosters really work?

Yes. Skin boosters visibly improve hydration, firmness, and skin quality. By stimulating collagen, elastin, and skin metabolism, they leave the skin looking plumper, smoother, and more radiant after a course of treatments.

Is Skin booster a filler?

No. While both use hyaluronic acid, skin boosters are not designed to add volume. Instead, they hydrate from within and improve skin texture, tone, and elasticity – perfect for a natural glow without altering facial shape.

What age is best for skin boosters?

Skin boosters are effective from your mid-20s onwards. They're ideal for treating early signs of ageing, dryness, or dull skin, and are popular at any age for maintaining firm, glowing, and well-hydrated skin.

How long do skin boosters last?

Skin booster results usually last 4 to 6 months. A course of 2–3 sessions spaced weeks apart is recommended, with maintenance treatments twice yearly to sustain skin hydration and glow.

How much do skin boosters cost?

At Dr. Michael's clinic, skin booster treatments are $650/1ml (Melbourne clinic) and £450/1ml (London clinic). Each session is carried out with expert precision in a clinical setting to ensure optimal results.

What not to do after a skin booster?

After a skin booster treatment, we advise avoiding alcohol, strenuous exercise, saunas, and direct sun exposure for 24 hours. Try not to touch or massage the area. These steps help minimise swelling and support the best outcome from your treatment.

How long do skin boosters take to work?

Skin boosters typically start working within 3 to 7 days, with full results visible after 2 to 4 weeks.
Skin boosters improve skin hydration, elasticity, and texture gradually. A course of 2 to 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart is recommended for best results, with maintenance treatments every 4 to 6 months to sustain the glow and hydration.
Results of Skin boosters are subtle and natural, enhancing overall skin quality over time.

What are the side effects of skin booster treatments?

Common side effects of skin boosters are generally mild and temporary. These may include:

  • Redness at the injection site

  • Mild swelling or puffiness

  • Bruising

  • Tenderness or slight discomfort

  • Itching or firmness under the skin

These skin booster side effects typically resolve within 1 - 3 days.
